what we do
The main objectives of the Nomad Trust are to help the homeless, needy and vulnerable people that come through our door, day and night. To do this we operate an emergency Night Shelter, a Charity Shop, Life Skills and Resettlement Advice with Floating Support. Over the past 25 years our aim has been to provide services to those in the City and County, helping them to stay off the streets and hopefully helping them to change their lifestyles for the better. Our statistics show that the biggest reason for being homeless is relationship breakdown. The number of individuals who passed through our door between April 2008 and March 2009 was 485, of which 82% had Lincolnshire connections.
To achieve the above our grateful thanks must go to everyone concerned, whether it be our staff, volunteers or the public who have supported the Trust since it's birth in 1984.
Health and Safety for All
The Nomad Trust accepts its responsibilities to provide and maintain maximum safety and security within all its projects including:
- The maintenance of buildings and systems of work that are safe and without risks to health and in connection with the use, handling, storage of articles and substances.
- The provision of information, instruction, training and supervision for all employees and volunteers and any others that may be affected.
- Security procedures such as CCTV cameras, personal alarms and intercoms.
- The office building has two intercom systems for its entrance plus CCTV cameras and monitors.
- Other projects also have additional security items.
- The staff are also encouraged to adhere strongly to our lone working policy.
Abuse Awareness
Everybody at the Nomad Trust has the right to feel safe and protected. If at any time a member of staff suspects an act of abuse this must be reported immediately. If at any time a Service User feels they are being abused (by either a member of staff or other Service User, in fact by anyone) they can:
- Report it to a member of staff from any of the Nomad projects.
- Ask for an interview with the Resettlement Advice Team or a member of the Management team.
- Fill out a Service User 'Comments and Complaints' form by putting it in writing.
- An envelope marked 'Private and Confidential' is available to go with this form, which should be addressed to The Manager.
The same procedure goes for anyone else who feels they are being abused and none of the above will affect your statutory rights.
Drugs Policy
The Nomad Trust does not condone the possession, supply, cultivation or manufacture of substances that breach the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and will co-operate with Lincolnshire Police and other relevant agencies in the event of such a breach. Section 8 of the Act prohibits the occupier or anyone concerned with the management of premises knowingly allowing the smoking of Cannabis. Should an incident of this nature occur, the management would immediately enforce the Drugs Policy.
